These chocolate rice krispie treats are so easy to make and are guaranteed to satisfy your dessert craving! Unlike the original, these are made without marshmallows, butter, or sugar. Instead, we use melted chocolate chips, almond butter or peanut butter, and pure maple syrup for sweetness.

The combination of ingredients is so delicious! And in 5 minutes you will have a super satisfying healthy dessert using only 6 ingredients!

I’m a chocolate lover and I have to say, I prefer these rice krispie treats over the original marshmallow ones. They are chocolatey, crunchy and gooey and such a quick and easy no-bake dessert you’ve got to try!

Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients:

  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips: These are not as sweet as milk chocolate and they are what I always have in my pantry. You can use any chocolate you like.
  • Brown Rice Krispie Cereal: I like to use brown rice krispie cereal because it has more fiber than the original but any puffed rice cereal will do.
  • Almond Butter: Again, this recipe is very customizable so you could use peanut butter or even sunflower butter. The almond butter goes really well with the syrup and chocolate though.
  • Pure Maple Syrup: This is the sweetener I used but I’m sure honey would also work. We need a sweetener that is going to help the recipe stick together like traditional marshmallows would do.
  • Vanilla: I always like to add a bit of vanilla extract in my dessert recipes, it really gives it a dessert flavor.
  • Dash of salt: Just a little bit but trust me, it needs it and brings all the flavors together.
