FOR THE PEANUT BUTTER LAYER
- Oats: quick or old fashioned rolled oats work best for this recipe. They’re hearty and give a nice chewy texture.
- Almond Flour: is a binder and adds protein
- Coconut Flour: adds a mild sweet flavor that pairs well with the chocolate topping
- Natural Creamy Peanut Butter: helps the cup stay together and gives it that classic Reeses flavor
- Pure Maple Syrup: maple syrup is a natural sweetener and I think it tastes so well with peanut butter. You could also use honey instead.
- Vanilla Extract: this adds extra flavor and is so good in sweet treats
FOR THE CHOCOLATE LAYER
- Semi-Sweeet Chocolate Chips: These are a great balance between milk and dark chocolate. But any of the three will work. I definitely want to try to make these with a dark chocolate layer.
- Natural Creamy Peanut Butter: adds extra creamy peanut butter flavor
- Coconut Oil: the oil helps the chocolate chips melt which creates a bit thinner mixture so it’s easier to work with
- Sea Salt: adding sea salt on top brings out the sweetness and adds that sweet and salty flavor combo
