This protein ball recipe is a twist on my peanut butter chocolate chip energy bites. My four-year-old loves my original recipe, so I created a similar recipe with a few tweaks and sprinkles! Because what kid doesn’t like sprinkles!

These protein balls for kids are a great snack, a healthy addition to breakfast, or a tasty dessert. Pack them in lunches, give them as an after-school snack, or bring them on a picnic, they’re convenient and portable.

The peanut butter and hemp seeds provide a good amount of protein. Oat flour provides heart-healthy fiber and maple syrup for natural sweetness. And the sprinkles will get your kids to try them and love them!

Kid-Friendly Protein Ball Ingredients:

  • Oat Flour: An excellent source of whole grains and heart-healthy fiber.
  • Coconut Flour: It provides more protein while giving this recipe a light coconut flavor.
  • Peanut Butter: Creamy and delicious and high in protein, I eat PB every day. It will help bind all the ingredients together. You could sub almond butter, which I’ve wanted to try too.
  • Hemp Seeds: Full of protein and a superfood, they have a mild nutty flavor and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and give this recipe a nice crunch!
  • Pure Maple Syrup: For a natural sweetness and also helps as a binder.
  • Vanilla: I put vanilla in almost all my sweet treats, it adds a warm dessert flavor.
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: Because who doesn’t like chocolate, kids especially.
  • Sprinkles: The star of this recipe and the ingredient that makes this a fun snack!

Easy Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

This super simple chocolate rice krispie treats recipe is going to be your new favorite healthy-ish dessert if you have a sweet tooth!

These chocolate rice krispie treats are so easy to make and are guaranteed to satisfy your dessert craving! Unlike the original, these are made without marshmallows, butter, or sugar. Instead, we use melted chocolate chips, almond butter or peanut butter, and pure maple syrup for sweetness.

The combination of ingredients is so delicious! And in 5 minutes you will have a super satisfying healthy dessert using only 6 ingredients!

I’m a chocolate lover and I have to say, I prefer these rice krispie treats over the original marshmallow ones. They are chocolatey, crunchy and gooey and such a quick and easy no-bake dessert you’ve got to try!

Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients:

  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips: These are not as sweet as milk chocolate and they are what I always have in my pantry. You can use any chocolate you like.
  • Brown Rice Krispie Cereal: I like to use brown rice krispie cereal because it has more fiber than the original but any puffed rice cereal will do.
  • Almond Butter: Again, this recipe is very customizable so you could use peanut butter or even sunflower butter. The almond butter goes really well with the syrup and chocolate though.
  • Pure Maple Syrup: This is the sweetener I used but I’m sure honey would also work. We need a sweetener that is going to help the recipe stick together like traditional marshmallows would do.
  • Vanilla: I always like to add a bit of vanilla extract in my dessert recipes, it really gives it a dessert flavor.
  • Dash of salt: Just a little bit but trust me, it needs it and brings all the flavors together.

How To Make The Easiest Homemade Sorbet with 5 Ingredients

April 7, 2023

This is the easiest homemade sorbet to have as an after-dinner treat and great to serve guests. Make it with whatever fruit you like, it’s refreshing, light, and healthy!

My son loves strawberry ice cream and any fruit ice cream or sorbet. He’s also a big fan of homemade smoothies. So combining the two, I came up with this homemade sorbet recipe. It’s healthier than ice cream, but still sweet and decadent. And I’m happy to report; he loves it!

Sorbet is a lighter, more refreshing dessert when compared to classic ice cream. It’s traditionally used as a palate cleanser and is a great ending to a heavy meal. In Italy, this sorbet course is known as an intermezzo. Traditionally, it’s non-dairy, but for this recipe, I chose to use plain Greek yogurt to give it a more ice cream-like texture and flavor and some added protein.

When I visited my family in Italy, we had lots of homemade Italian dinners and they always served lemon sorbet in between courses and or for dessert. It was perfect because we were so full from the seven-course meal haha! If you ever visit Italy, try their lemon sorbet while lounging on the beach. Sometimes served with a shot of alcohol, either way, it’s a great way to cool off in the summer heat.

The most classic and traditional flavor is lemon, which is my absolute favorite. But I thought it would be a little too tart for my four-year-old so the recipe below is made with strawberries. But any fruit will work with this recipe.

This sorbet recipe is made with only 5 ingredients and without a food processor or an ice cream maker. Simply use your blender and you’ll have minimal cleanup.

sorbet recipe

Ingredients To Make Homemade Sorbet:

  • Frozen Strawberries: Choose any fruit you want, mango, raspberry, peach, etc.
  • Coconut Sugar: Granulated sugar will also work in this recipe.
  • Vanilla: Really helps any dessert come together, it’s great in this recipe.
  • Greek Yogurt: Use full-fat, plain Greek yogurt to get the best flavor.
  • Ripe Banana: I added a banana since I was making this for my son, but you could leave it out. The ripe banana will make it sweeter and the combination of strawberry and banana is delicious!

Delicious & Healthy 2-Minute Protein Packed Breakfast | Nutritious Yogurt Bowl

March 30, 2023

If you’ve been looking for a quick protein-packed breakfast that’s healthy and delicious then you’re going to love this yogurt bowl! It’s a nutritious breakfast that only takes 2 minutes to make! Made with creamy yogurt, sweet berries, crunchy seeds and nuts and topped with creamy peanut butter. This breakfast won’t spike your blood sugar so you can have sustainable energy to power you through your morning.

I recently fell in love with this simple breakfast. This yogurt bowl is super quick to make and keeps me full for hours. It’s very customizable, but this particular recipe is low GI so it won’t spike your blood sugar and it’s a great low-carb breakfast option. I feel my best if I’m eating a low-sugar breakfast so I opt for plain yogurt for this recipe but you can use any yogurt you prefer or add honey.

This is my go-to breakfast most weekdays as it’s easy to throw together on busy mornings. I find the combination of sweet berries, bananas, crunchy nuts and seeds, and creamy peanut butter very satisfying.

Yogurt Bowl Ingredients:

  • Plain Full-Fat Greek Yogurt: I recently discovered that full-fat dairy is much more nutritious than low-fat, it has more flavor and keeps me full longer. You can substitute any yogurt for this recipe.
  • Berries: I use a combination of raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries because they are full of vitamins, and low in sugar but still sweet. You can definitely use any fruit you like.
  • Banana: Just half a banana gives this bowl some sweetness
  • Keifer: I add a bit of plain Keifer to get the benefits of a prebiotic. It’s a bit tart so if you’re not into that you can leave this out or add a flavored one.
  • Hemp Seeds: I love this superfood so much! They are rich in heart-healthy omega’s, vegan, and give a great crunch.
  • Walnuts: You can use any nut you like. I personally like the flavor of walnuts in this recipe and they are full of antioxidants.
  • Granola: A classic in a yogurt parfait, you can’t go wrong with a simple honey granola! However, if you want to keep this a low glycemic, then skip this.
  • Peanut Butter: I recently added this to the recipe and wow it’s a game-changer! I bet almond butter or sunflower butter would be great too.

Irresistible Peanut Butter Energy Bites With Chocolate Chips

You won’t be able to get enough of these peanut butter energy bites! Made with chocolate chips and almond flour, they are low carb, low calorie, filled with protein, and taste like dessert!

Peanut butter energy bites

I make these peanut butter chocolate chip energy bites every week. My family and I love them so much! They are great as a snack, an addition to breakfast, or an after-meal treat. By using a mix of almond flour and coconut flour, these protein balls stay low-carb and have a cookie-dough-like consistency.

This recipe is great to make with kids too. My 4-year-old son likes to help me measure the ingredients and then he can roll them into a ball by himself. He also loves eating them, and I love that they are a homemade healthy addition to his diet.

Energy Bite Ingredients:

  • Almond Flour: Naturally low-carb, high in protein, and nutrient-dense. This flour is grain free and high in magnesium, Vitamin E, and prebiotic dietary fiber. It also is finely ground compared to oats which are typically used in energy bites.
  • Coconut Flour: This adds a nice light coconut flavor and is also low in carbs but high in protein.
  • Peanut Butter: Creamy and delicious and high in protein, I eat PB every day. It will help bind all the ingredients together. You could sub almond butter, which I’ve wanted to try too.
  • Hemp Seeds: Also called Hemp Hearts, they have a mild nutty flavor and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Pure Maple Syrup: For a natural sweetness and also helps as a binder.
  • Vanilla: Adds a warm flavor that makes it taste like a treat!
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: This creates a nice crunch and is not too sweet.
